Chat Plot
Chat Plot is a complete iPhone app template for presenting fictional stories as realistic, message-by-message conversations. Users can browse curated stories, save favorites, continue where they left off, or generate their own story from a prompt.
The included AI creator lets users choose a genre, theme, and story length. OpenAI generates the story details and conversation, while AI image generation creates a matching cover. Firebase powers curated categories and stories, and SwiftData keeps reading progress, favorites, cached messages, and user-generated stories on device.
What do I need to get started?
You will need a Mac computer with Xcode 15+ installed. This app requires iOS 17+. All app templates on this website are for iPhones, with no iPad support. You will need a Firebase project configured for Firestore and Storage, plus an OpenAI API account and API key for AI story and cover-image generation. An AdMob account is required if you want to show ads in the app. If you plan to use the included purchases, configure your own App Store in-app purchase products. Firebase, OpenAI API, and advertising costs are separate from the template purchase.
How does it work?
- Curated content from Firebase. The Home tab loads a featured story, categories, top stories, and cover images from Firestore and Firebase Storage.
- Message-by-message story reading. Conversations are revealed one message at a time with an animated typing indicator, automatic scrolling, and saved reading progress.
- SwiftData caching and persistence. Story messages are cached after the first download, while favorites, reading progress, and user creations remain available across launches.
- AI story creation. Users enter a story idea, select a genre and theme, and choose a length from very short to very large.
- OpenAI generation pipeline. GPT-4o creates the story metadata and conversation messages, while AI image generation creates a matching cover image for the new story.
- Credits, premium, and AdMob. The project includes consumable credit packs, a premium unlock, restore purchases, and interstitial ads that can be skipped for premium users.
- In-App Purchases are handled via a private framework. This framework doesn't support subscriptions. You can use this framework for any other games/apps that you want to add in-app purchases. If you want auto-renewable subscriptions, please contact us or search for 'PurchaseKit by Apps4World' on the website in order to get the full version of the PurchaseKit product.
