You will get the complete source code for the app as seen in the video demo. Nothing more or less than what the demo shows. This app is compatible with the latest version of Xcode and SwiftUI. The app is built in SwiftUI and compatible with Xcode 15+. This app lets users import any PDF and chat with it to get summaries, explanations, and quick answers to their questions. The app uses OpenAI API to understand the PDF contents and provide a response. Very long PDFs may cause processing to fail because of OpenAI’s token limits. In those cases, the app won’t be able to generate an answer for that request.
*** WHAT DO I NEED TO GET STARTED ***
You will need a Mac computer with Xcode 15+. This app requires iOS 17+. All templates on this website are for iPhones without iPad support. An AdMob account is necessary if you want to show ads in the app. We provide basic PDF documentation on how to replace the AdMob Interstitial Ad identifiers and the in-app purchase product identifiers. You will need an account with OpenAI in order to get your API key and updated it in the AppConfig file.
*** HOW DOES IT WORK ***
- The user starts on the Dashboard, where they see a list of previously imported PDF files and a button to add a new one.
- Tapping Import opens the iOS file picker so the user can choose any PDF from Files. Once selected, the PDF is stored locally and added to the list.
- Each PDF appears in the list with its title and metadata, and the user can tap any item to open it.
- From the Dashboard screen, the user can select the PDF, then open the chat panel to start a conversation about that specific document.
- The app provides a set of quick prompts/actions that the user can choose from. This helps them quickly get a PDF summary, insights, facts, and much more.
- By default the user can import only 2 PDF files. They can remove AdMob Ads and Import unlimited files via a one-time in-app purchase.
- Each request/questions the user asks for a given PDF will cost them 1 credit. The user can purchase more credits via consumable in-app purchases.
- If a PDF is extremely long and exceeds OpenAI’s token limit, the processing request can fail and the app will show an error.
- In-App Purchases are handled via a private framework. This framework doesn't support subscriptions. You can use this framework for any other games/apps you want to add in-app purchases.
